Founded by the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) on June 21, 2004, Go Skateboarding Day was first held in Southern California, the unofficial capital of skateboarding.

Hence, each year on June 21st, skaters around the world celebrate the pure exhilaration, creativity, and spirit of their beloved sport. For them, it is the best day of the year on which they will skate across cities, gather in skate parks, stream into local skate shops, and make pilgrimages to their favourite skate spots.

In the years since that first celebration, Go Skateboarding Day continues to grow but the mission remains the same: Have fun, go skateboarding!
